Dallas Endangered Elephants
A social issue is a large problem that affects the whole society. A social issue is if a person pours something like oil or gasoline in the ocean it will affect other animals. Some people who drink the water will be affected by it because they will get sick.
I know that Asian elephants have no tusks. A juvenile elephant is a child elephant that is just starting to grow its tusks. A mature male elephant is called a bull. A mature female elephant is called a cow. A baby is called a calf and it’s hairy when it’s born.
Elephants are endangered because when the elephants come on farmers crop they throw fires and shoot them. They are also endangered because poachers are killing them because they want their tusks for ivory. They are endangered because some African countries are at war and elephants can’t get the food and water they need.
One way I think I can help elephants by making shelter to hide them from poachers. Another thing I would do to help is to hire people to go in the jungle and see if the elephants are ok.
What I have learned is that elephants are a huge part of our community. Also I learned that elephants tusks are very valuable. I am writing this because I want to inform you to stop killing elephants for their tusks and try to help.
Congratulations, Yellow Group!
You are officially published authors! Each of you has used your reading, writing, and critical thinking skills to write a five-paragraph essay on an important social issue. By writing about endangered elephants, you are educating other people about the importance of this issue. We must hope that by educating other individuals, we can join together to fight the many injustices suffered by elephants. Thank you for your hard work and consistent enthusiasm.

Dallas, I really enjoyed reading your essay. I particularly liked your descriptions of young elephants. (I'd love to see a baby elephant!) Also I didn't know that Asian elephants had no tusks.
Your essay has made me want to get active in supporting efforts to save the elephants. I can't imagine what it would be like if they became extinct. Thanks for explaining their plight and giving me tips on what to do about it. Eva Nilsen
This was a great essay Dallas. I really liked the way you informed me about elephants and why they are endangered. Your essay also made me really want to help the elephants because they are part of the society just ike we humans are.
THIS ESSAY WAS WELL WRITTEN DALLAS, I'M VERY PROUD OF YOU. I HAVE LEARNED THINGS FROM THE ESSAY I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT ELEPHANTS BEFORE. THANK YOU DALLAS,ALWAYS WRITE,STUDY AND CONTINUE TO HAVE A LOVE FOR READING.

Dallas,
I think it's great that you give me suggestions for how to help the elephants. I did not realize the danger was so great! You suggested that I build a shelter for the elephants. Does that mean I need to go to Africa to buils a shelter? Is there anything I can do here in the United States to help? Great work, my friend.

Dallas, your essay really taughtme a lot about elephants. I had no idea that calfs were hairy when they were born, they sound so cute! It seems like you have really become an expert on elephants, and I think your essay and your passion will inspire others to care about the plight of the elephants.
Dallas,
Thank your for sharing your informative essay. You have done a great job painting the picture of the challenges elephants face. I appreciate the suggestions you have provided for what we can do to help them. A good essay always provides some solutions to the problems it raises. Keep up the good work.
